Our WinesThis year, SoloRosa celebrates its 8th vintage and remains the only winery in America founded on dry rosé. In 2007, due largely to the very small yields of the vintage, we departed from our multiple rosé tradition and produced only one rosé. Made predominantly from Sangiovese grapes grown high on Atlas Peak in Napa Valley, this wine is beautifully structured with firm, bright acidity that supports a core of brilliant raspberry, cherry, citrus, herb and mineral flavors. It’s as refreshing as rosé can be, yet it carries enough weight and complexity to also please the most discerning aficionados. “What’s all the fuss about?” asked Connoisseurs’ Guide last year in its first-ever rosé round-up. It’s “a fuss created in part because folks like SoloRosa started making serious rosé.”
It’s true. We are serious about pink wine. Hence the name—SoloRosa—which means in Italian, “only pink”. There remains in our cellar a small bit of 2006 Syrah Rosé and a whopping 20-odd cases of 2005 Sangiovese rosé as well. These “library wines” are still showing their distinctive character as singularly well-made, complex pink wines. Who says rosé doesn’t age? Well, we don’t suggest aging them like red wines, but a few years in the cellar can bring on complex qualities that are not always apparent in a wine’s youth. Try a bottle or two and see for yourself.
This year, we also crafted a small amount of light, fresh and fruity red Syrah under SoloRosa’s "sister" label: Piccolo Rosso (which means "little red" in Italian). We hope you will enjoy our "little red" as much as you've enjoyed our "only pink."

mostly Sangiovese, with a touch of Syrah for good measure.

SoloRosa 2006 Russian River Valley
Syrah Rosé

|
This is
an unusually full-bodied, lush-textured rosé that offers plenty of
raspberry and cherry notes balanced by zesty citrus and herb flavors.
It definitely shows the varietal influence of Syrah. While light in
color, SoloRosa Syrah Rosé is nonetheless made in a bolder style than
our other rosés. We sometimes refer to it as a pink wine for those who
think they only like reds. The grapes were harvested from Sara Lee’s
Vineyard, in the heart of the Russian River Valley, and went
direct-to-press. 200 cases made.
$28.00 per 750-ml bottle

|
A
light textured red wine perfect for warm weather and al fresco dining,
our lightly wooded Syrah comes from a single vineyard in the Russian
River Valley. Limited skin contact makes the tannins soft and round,
highlighting cherry and spice flavors.
