SoloRosa Russian River Valley Syrah Rosé
2005
Wow. A really flavorful, distinctive rosé that's
practically a red wine for all its raspberry and cherry flavors,
full texture and lingering, concentrated finish. Should be great
with grilled salmon, tuna tartar and sushi.

SoloRosa Napa Valley Sangiovese Rosé 2005
Depth, concentration and great balance combine for something more
than refreshment. Has the flavor complexity of a red wine with the
lively texture of a white. Subtle pepper and plum aromas, vivid
raspberry flavors and a lingering spicy finish.

SoloRosa California 2005
Complex and intriguing flavors mark this orange-pink colored wine.
There's something wild in the plummy, meaty, earthy character, and
it all comes together on the finish with fruit and vibrancy.

SoloRosa 2005, California Rosé
Wine writer Jeff Morgan and partner Daniel Moore have dedicated
themselves to the proposition that California can turn out gorgeous
Mediterranean-style dry rosés. A vivid scarlet-colored blend of
barrel-fermented Sangiovese and Merlot, this is one of the richest
wines on the board, but its citrusy cherry- cassis fruitiness is
lifted by a fine cut of lively acidity. Rosé for burgers? Believe
it.

"The Fruit Hussy"
(If) your weakness is for wines that are comparably lush, with
enough
sweetness to amplify the fruit flavors, (try) a domestic rosé like
the
2005 SoloRosa.

"Hottest Small Brands" SoloRosa - Taking Dry Rosé Seriously"
SoloRosa translates to "only Rosé," and while some old-time wineries
in
America make limited amounts, SoloRosa is the only winery in the New
World only making dry Rosé. One well-known wine writer is already
calling it the "California cult Rosé."

SOLOROSA Rosé, California, 2005
Bear's Score: 91+ points
This is sixth vintage for this crisply balanced, barrel fermented
dry
Rosé. This iteration, a blend of 50%
Atlas Peak Sangiovese and 50% Lodi Merlot, may be the highest and
best use of these two varieties from these two areas. It offers a
lovely red-pink color and vibrant cherry and red berry fruit with
notes of citrus and minerals and hint of bubble gum dust and black
pepper. Although dry, it's burst of juicy fruit gives it a real
succulence in the mouth. Try this truly excellent Rosé with grilled
salmon, beef Carpaccio, seafood stews, tuna tartar, or high-end
picnic fare. Excellent.
